From old sailboat to e-sharing fleet
Help build an electric shared sailboat with VYN and STRAAL! VYN is making room for the arrival of vzw STRAAL: a socially engaged and circular start-up that restores, electrifies, and subsequently shares neglected pleasure craft.
Because too many boats do not receive the attention they deserve. For the first time, STRAAL is giving an old sailboat the chance to shine again! We are doing this with the help of Vlaanderen Circulair, and perhaps with yours too?!
VYN and Straal welcome volunteers eager to roll up their sleeves over the coming months for the restoration process from A to Z. From cleaning for a fresh start to electrifying for a sustainable future! And of course, a festive launch with the entire team will follow at the end.
Who: young or old, experienced handyman or not, everyone is welcome on board. We are looking for a number of ‘ship workers’ (enthusiasm and drive are much more important than technical knowledge), a few experts (technically strong), and one lead role (organisational and socially minded).
Where: at the VYN Nieuwpoort site
When: from April to September 2025 inclusive. We organise an average of 4 workdays per month, but you choose how often you come. The workdays are scheduled according to everyone’s availability. A minimum commitment of once a month is expected.
