What is the Blue Flag?
Blue Flag is the largest environmental award for the water recreation industry in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Blue Flag was established internationally in 1987, and is part of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE): one of the world’s largest environmental education organizations. Worldwide, more than 5,000 beaches and marinas in over 50 countries have Blue Flag status.
Blue Flag’s mission is to promote environmental education, safe and environmentally friendly practices, monitoring of environmental conditions, and sustainable tourism development through cooperation and joint action. Blue Flag participants meet strict standards within 4 themes and do everything possible to preserve the environment.
Do you see the Blue Flag flying? Then the beach or marina has made efforts and excellent bathing water quality, guest safety and environmental friendliness. Thus, they guarantee that you can enjoy yourself to the fullest in a conscious manner. We are naturally proud that VYN has been allowed to fly the Blue Flag in our harbor for many years!
